Jimbo and I were fortunate to be given 2 free tickets for the extravaganza that is 'Goodwood ~ Festival of Speed'. The programme said Harley were showing off their new 2007 XR1200 so off we sped to a cloudy and overcast Chichester with our trusty instamatics and picnic hampers stuffed with Tizer and smoked salmon butties
 

Adjectives and superlatives couldn't do justice to the sheer scale and quality of this celebration of mans eternal quest to go faster pussycat.... this from a Harley rider (me) who's never been to an F1 race or a superbike track event in his life and would have previously regarded being forced to watch same on TV as tantamount to having my nails pulled out whilst watching a coat of Dulux  dry. I can now understand the fanaticism and passion of the throngs that populated the mile and a quarter hill climb as cars and bikes literally thundered pass just feet away

I'll leave it to the galleries below therefore to convince you whether it's worth forty five pounds of your hard earned English pounds to attend the event in 2008 ?

The 42 foot 'Blue Flame' which smashed theland speed record in 1970 averaging 630 mph on the slat flats at Bonneville USA was displayed fittingly alongside the Harley below !

The Harley Davidson stand predictably attracted punters like beez round a honey pot and we struggled to get this set of pix in between every mothers son and his grandad vying to have their picture taken straddling a Hog
